Antique English painting from the second half of the 19th century. Artwork oil on canvas depicting a subject taken from William Shakespeare's Macbeth, The prophecies of the witches, of excellent pictorial quality. Painting of large size, exceptional quality, with a subject that is difficult to find, for antique dealers, interior decorators and collectors. Artwork that presents, at the feet of the main character, a monogram on a rock (see photo) E. B. J. attributable to the famous English painter Edward Burne Jones (1833-1898), lacking authentication and additional documentation. Painting with a dark background, deliberately gloomy and theatrical, where the witches surround Macbeth and in the lower right corner a child holds a twig in his hands (referring to the third prophecy, see photo).
